Confidence is your belief that you can make the right choice and do what it takes

Almost every one I’ve ever spoken to about confidence wants more.

So, fascinated and intrigued by the confidence boost my boudoir photography clients get from their photo sessions I dedicated myself in 2020 and 2021 to developing a simple method backed by science that you can use to boost your confidence at any time.

Confidence is all about trusting yourself to take a step into the lesser know, even the unknown, and that is why having a tried and tested method for building your confidence that’s backed by neuroscience is the best way to do it.

The 3 Keys to Your Confidence

In this workshop I’m going to help you choose your Confidence Challenge and give you practical, easy to implement steps that you can use to build your confidence whenever you need to.

I’ll also tell you what you can do to remove the obstacles you will probably encounter on the way.

Your Confidence Challenge

You can use the BRIGHT EFFECT for anything you want to be, do, or have, whether that’s getting the confidence to BE YOURSELF (which is always No.#1), CHANGE YOUR LIFE, EARN MORE MONEY, etc.

I always recommend you make it as easy for yourself as possible and work up from there as safely as possible.

Whatever you choose you’ll want to break it down into the smallest most innocuous and inoffensive actions possible so that you can continuously and consistently have the benefit of getting results that are what you expect or very close to it – that’s how you build confidence little by little! Just like at the gym you can’t go for the biggest weights without the preparation and training! But, yes, leaps in confidence can be made – that’s what our boudoir photo sessions do. How? Because our Boudoir Confidence Challenge is custom-designed and orchestrated to give you the safest way to experience the greatest confidence boost for you.

Going cold turkey (stopping doing something) or hot turkey (starting doing something) is scary because one part of our brain craves variety and another part of our brain demands safety and security and because safety and security keeps us alive, it wins. Even something that you think ought not to be scary can pose a real threat to the status quo and doing nothing often feels safer than doing something.

In our Workshop I’ll give you a number of Beginner Confidence Builders that you choose from and can 100% do on your own with the BRIGHT EFFECT method. But I always recommend that you take advantage of getting yourself a Confidence Buddy because that will make it even easier for you and for your buddy! 

Why Your Confidence Challenge isn’t a Goal

Although a goal is quite simply an aim or a purpose we have a habit of setting goals that excite us because they are beyond what is easily achievable but “big hairy audacious goals” or “lofty” goals are more burdensome than they are motivational and can lead to a negative spiral of discouragement. A Challenge is clearly not easy so by using the word “challenge” you are not setting yourself up and you acknowledge that you do need to prepare and commit to overcome it.

You might feel silly doing something minuscule and spending any time on it at all might not seem worthwhile, so much so that we can even talk ourselves out of doing them at all – this is why a buddy is a good idea!

If it were that easy you’d have done it already, right? You’ve underestimated your inner resistance – it’s physical in our body (neural pathways in our brain), emotional in our mind focussed on safety and security, and spiritual in our soul because change can threaten our very identity!

The First Key 🗝️

You can’t pour from an empty cup!

Just like a scientist you need to build from the known into the lesser known and not get blown up during your experiments!

How strong of a bridge you need or how big of a leap you’re willing and able to make is your call (remember SELF CARE is about building your muscles!) but you can always scale up or down.

MINDSET

The Second Key 🗝️

If you’re trying anything new or that’s a stretch of any kind your mind needs to be your greatest ally – if you believe you can’t then you may be making it impossible! This isn’t a movie about winning against all the odds, it’s real life!

So, you need to move yourself from a place of impossibility into a place of possibility.

And to do that you want to know how your mind works and put it to working for you so you can focus on the amazing feelings and benefits of where you want to be, not where you are and not the gap in between.

ACTION & BRAINSTORM & CELEBRATE

The Third Key 🗝️

Until you make action you have no “you” data to help you make better action.

There’s no need to “wing it”!

You can use the Scientific Method of researching first and experimenting again and again to find out if the result you get is what you expected and then assessing and adjusting accordingly until you get what you want!

And NEVER EVER forget to CELEBRATE because every little achievement is getting your closer to who you want to be, what you want to do, and what you want to have!

The Chicken & the Egg Problem

We all get stuck on NEEDING the Confidence to make the action but it’s only through action that you can gain confidence – so is it a Catch-22? Nope! It’s way more like the Chicken and the Egg problem!

Why?

Because YOU CAN get out of this loop if you want to but you can’t get out of a Catch-22 (the solution is denied by a circumstance inherent in the problem).

The truth is that you always have some confidence to build upon, even if it’s just a tiny smidgen and until you make inspired action you ain’t going anywhere! You need to get out of the realm of probability (which can be zero!) and into the world of possibility which can be 100%!

So how do you get the Confidence to take the first step?

To answer that let’s look at which came first, the Chicken or the Chicken’s Egg???

At some point in evolutionary history when there were no chickens, two birds that were almost-but-not-quite chickens mated and laid an egg that hatched into the first chicken. So you have 2 options. Either that egg was a chicken’s egg, in which case the egg came first or you had to wait until that chicken laid it’s first egg! Either way egg-laying was going on proving that action must be taken and only by so doing do you have a chance of getting what you want. 

Which means you only need something almost-but-not-quite confidence to breed confidence.  😄

The Obstacles

There are many potential obstacles but the most common are related to a lack of SELF CARE and negative or automatic MINDSET which is why they are the first two keys to your Confidence.

Whenever you encounter an obstacle like:

Worrying about what other people will think/ say

or

Your mind getting into a negative spiral

All you need do is pause, give yourself more SELF CARE and MINDSET, and, if at all possible, break the action into smaller less offensive and/ or “harmful” actions – this can CALM YOU and STRENGTHEN YOU so that you can make action in the direction you want to go. SELF CARE and MINDSET are the tools that enable us to make action and their maintenance is essential to our Well-Being so it is never a bad thing to pause and focus on SELF CARE and MINDSET. It’s like getting yourself an axe and sharpening it regularly rather than spending an eternity trying to chop down a forest with a toothpick!

We live in a world of instant gratification but you can only go as far and fast as you can go. It’s all about the journey. Willpower of it’s own can help but only so much before it can’t overcome the SELF CARE and MINDSET you’ve not built up and when willpower backfires it can set you back even further. The bottom line is that there is only one you and you need to look after you as best you can. Destroying the Golden Goose is not a good option! And SELF CARE and MINDSET is all about looking after you.
